There are many reasons to love the Greenworks 25022 electric lawn mower which will be revealed as we delve into this article.  While there are many pros to owning this bad boy, there are a couple of cons to consider as well.

In the following Greenworks 25022 review, I will be discussing everything about the Greenworks 25022 model, like cutting deck details, frame construction, wheel issues, ease of use, maneuverability ease, level adjustment options and more.

Greenworks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower Overview

Greenworks 25022

The Greenworks 25022 electric lawn mower has a 20-inch cutting path–a lot of models come with 14-18inch decks.  The reason this is great is because when you’re out there cutting your lawn, it won’t take as much time to get the lawn mowed as it would take with a lawn mower with a smaller deck.

The Greenworks 25022 mower comes equipped with 10-inch rear wheels and 7-inch front wheels, making it easier to maneuver more uneven terrains and easier to push.  That’s another cool feature to highlight–not every electric lawn mower comes equipped with rear tires as big as these. This particular 25022 model comes with several height adjustment options to cut your grass: 7 single lever levels to be exact.

With some electric lawn mowers, you have to be careful–for a good number of them, you have to adjust the height for EACH wheel.  That’s not the case with the Greenworks 25022.  It’s painless and easy to adjust using the single lever and you can adjust it from 1 1/2″-3 3/4″, saving you valuable time and energy.

Greenworks 25022 Frame Construction

There is a fair amount of electric lawn mowers which are constructed of a plastic frame. Sometimes the plastic models will have pieces falling off more easily, or getting broken, and are not very sturdy at all. For this reason, it’s important to research what your potential mower is made of.

The deck on the Greenworks 25022 is made of metal, which is a lot stronger than plastic and will last longer. While you would support a global economy, you would not support shoddy construction at expensive prices.

Assembly/Handle

All you need to do is lift the body of the motor out of the box (which can be heavy, at 56lbs), put the handlebar into place, attach the cord and your Greenworks 25022 is ready to go with the push of a button. The bar has a layer of padded foam, which provides more comfort as you’re mowing. However, some people have said that the foam was starting to come off on their mowers. Hopefully with gentle use, that won’t be an issue with everyone.

The Greenworks 25022’s handle does fold down for easy, space saving storage. It weighs 56 pounds, so you may or may not need help carrying it into storage, depending on your situation. You won’t have a battery to worry about, so you can store the mower in a shed for the winter.

Function

Aside from the easy height adjustment lever, there are 3 options with the Greenworks 25022: mulching, bagging, or discharging. If you don’t already know, mulching acts as a lawn fertilizer, providing a thicker lawn.

Mulching mowers leave behind grass that is finely shredded, whereas lawn mowers without mulching capabilities leave behind big chunks of matted grass that you have to rake so your lawn does not suffocate under it.

You may also choose to bag your grass with the attached bag on the Greenworks 25022 mower if you don’t want to mulch or rake your lawn. It’s going to require a little more effort to have to keep dumping the bag out, but that’s the price you pay with any bagged mower, unfortunately.

And lastly, you can let the thicker grass fly out of the side and then rake it up, but that just adds more work. Unless you like raking, you might as well try to fertilize your lawn with the mulcher or let the bag carry all the grass. It’ll save you time and energy, but that’s all up to you.

Warranty

This mower has a 4-year warranty. That’s longer than other mowers, which typically have a 2-year warranty.

Greenworks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower Negatives

Electric mowers need a strong electric current running to the motor to run properly. The shorter your extension cord (which you can buy on, along with your mower) is, the better. The reason for that is because the farther the electric has to travel, the weaker the current can become; thus, potentially causing your motor to not run as strongly as it could or cause it to overheat. The thicker the cord, and lower the gauge, the better.

And also, having to keep up with a cord can be a real hassle. You have to make sure you don’t run over it, and you have to keep rearranging it, which can be very frustrating. You have to decide whether you might have to chance a blown circuit breaker, or for the cordless models, a bad or weak battery at some point. And batteries can be very expensive, so that is one thing to consider as well.

Greenworks 25022 Review Summary

This is a very solid model for a corded electric lawn mower. As you’ve already read in this Greenworks 25022 review, it has a wider cutting path than most electric lawn mowers, and the wheels are bigger also, which makes for easier maneuverability.

The frame is made of metal, which seems to be a rarity for these types of lawn mowers, meaning that it will stand the test of time if you take good care of it. However, that also means it will be more heavy than plastic models, so if you are alone and can’t lift it yourself, you might want to look into a lighter model.

This Greenworks model performs all 3 functions, mulching, discharging and bagging, which allows you to choose what works best for you. The handle folds for easy storage, which is a plus, because if you live in a wet climate, you will have to store the mower inside. The bottom line is it’s a sturdy, quality mower that is considered by many to be one of the best you can buy.
