This is the Sun Joe ‘Mow Joe’ MJ401E electric lawn mower. It is corded, with 12 amps of power and a 16.5-inch deck that provides a 14” cutting path.

The handle of this mower is padded for comfort and a better, easier grip. There is no safety bar going across the handle, but instead you have to hold down a lever to the side as you mow. It is easy to assemble the mower with just some screws to put into place.
The wheels are both the same size, at 5.5 inches, which is pretty small but should work just fine on a small yard.
The Mow Joe MJ401E only has the grass bag feature, meaning you can only collect grass and you have to keep emptying the 10.6-gallon bag. You don’t have to use it, but you should if you don’t want clumps of grass left on your lawn. There is also a side discharge attachment you can buy separately, if you need to. If you want to mulch, there are other electric mowers on this site that do that.
The 16.5-inch deck is plastic, and the blade and handlebar are steel. The deck will never be in danger of rusting.
The height can be adjusted from 1.18”-2.52”, but it is more work than most other electric mowers, which can be adjusted on top with a single lever. To adjust the height at which the mower will cut your grass, you will have to turn it over and adjust all the wheels manually.
You may also have to take off the grass bag first to do that. But as with all mowers, once you do it and you like the look of your grass at a certain height, you won’t have to do it again.
This mower is ETL approved, which means that the company who makes the mower and the mower itself are inspected to ensure that you are getting a quality product that it is made right.
Is The Mow Joe Powerful?
The MJ401E has 12 amps of power, and you will need to buy an extension cord that can power it if you don’t already have one. There are different advantages to both corded and cordless mowers, but one advantage to the corded ones is that you can mow as long as you want without considering what power a battery has left. Once you develop a pattern, the cord won’t get in your way at all while mowing. If you have a bigger yard, you can also buy a cord reel to make your clean up easier and faster.
